XFL Picks Against the Spread Week 3

The upstart XFL heads into its third week. So far, the trend has been home teams and the under. At some point, that’s going to break. Until then, the trend is your friend.

Picks Against the Spread WinnerHOUSTON ROUGHNECKS AT TAMPA BAY VIPERS (+7.5, 45.5)
It was all over the internet that Vipers head coach Marc Trestman has “lost the locker room.” By week two? Losing sucks and is frustrating. Expect the Vipers to bow their backs and get after the 2 and OH Roughnecks.
Our projects suggest Tampa Bay will out rush and out pass Houston and win a squeaker.
The PLAY: TAMPA BAY plus 7.5

DALLAS RENEGADES AT SEATTLE DRAGONS (+3.5, 40.5)
It’s a battle for second place in the Pacific Northwest between the Renegades and Dragons. Dallas quarterback Landry Jones made big difference for the Renegades’ offense, becoming the first to crack 300 yards in XFL 2.0.
Seattle should be able to run the bull effectively and limit Landry’s opportunities. We see the trend of home teams winning and the under continuing in Seattle.
The PLAY: SEATTLE plus 3.5

The PLAY: UNDER 40.5

NEW YORK GUARDIANS AT ST. LOUIS BATTLEHAWKS (-10, 40.5)
It’s the first professional football game in St Lou since the Rams headed for Hollywood. Fat numbers of tickets have been sold and a ruckus crowd awaits the Guardians. However, 10 seems like a whole lot to cover when the Battlehawks are averaging 19.5 per game.
St. Louis QB Jordan Ta’amu won’t be confused with Kurt Warner but should have a big game and bring the rowdy St Louis fans what they want – a W – but expect the Guardians to cover.
The Play: NEW YORK plus 10

DC DEFENDERS AT LOS ANGELES WILDCATS (+8.5, 44)
The DC boys have looked like the most complete team in the XFL through the first two weeks. Cardale Jones should be able to light up the Wildcats secondary that gave up 3 bills to Dallas last weekend. On paper, this one looks like it shouldn’t be close.
The PLAY: DEFENDERS minus 8.5
