NBA Picks Against the Spread for Thursday, March 5, 2020.
We would have run the table, 9 and O with last night’s NBA Picks Against the Spread, if not for a game tying three by New Orleans’ Nicolo Melli with 7.9 seconds left, sending the Pelicans/Mavs game into overtime. It was the only shot he hit all night. Extra time pushed the total from UNDER to OVER and ruined the perfect evening.
But, 8-1? We aren’t complaining. We’ll take it every night.
Only three plays on the card today with just four games on the Thursday schedule. Like Aerosmith, we are going to try to keep the train a rollin’ all night long.
DENVER NUGGETS (-9.5) at CHARLOTTE HORNETS Total 208.5
A mirror reflection game as the Nuggets are 41-20 on the season and the Hornets a woeful 21-40. But the game evens out when you factor their numbers against the spread. Denver is 13-14-2 versus the number away from home and Charlotte is 13-15 ATS at home. Our projections say 10 is too many despite the high probability that Denver wins. We also like a side of the total.
The PLAY: HORNETS +9.5
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS at SACRAMENTO KINGS (-5.5) Total 219
Philly is too messed up with injuries to consider either side tonight. But, we do feel like points will be scored, scored and scored some more. Well, hopefully at least 219.
The PLAY: OVER 219
These are not plays, just the way our models lean:
- Los Angeles Clippers -1 and UNDER 236.5
- Sacramento -5.5
- Toronto -9 and UNDER 225.5
