NBA Picks Against the Spread – March 2, 2020

NBA Picks Against the Spread for Monday, March 2, 2020

Looking to rebound from our first losing night in days as we went 2-3. If not for unnecessary late fouls in the last 20 seconds of the New Orleans Pelicans game against the Los Angeles Lakers, we would have been on the winning side.

The outcome was no longer in question and bench players are running over opposition trying to steal inbound passes. It’s understandable for the young, eager Pelicans to try and extend the game, but the seasoned Lakers with the game in hand, WTH?

To make matters worse, the last free throw of the night put the total past the over 235.5 by the hook. A lot of people went to bed mad over that point.
There are a lucky seven games on the schedule for tonight with our methodology identifying a handful of plays.

Picks Against the Spread WinnerHOUSTON ROCKETS (-10) at NEW YORK KNICKS Total 231
Westbrook and the Beard on Broadway looks like a mismatch on paper. The Rockets are 18-12 away from their house while the Knickerbockers are a lowly 9-20 in Madison Square Garden. Those numbers are lopsided; however, Houston is just 13-15 against the line on the road and New York is 15-14 at home versus the line.
We like both sides of the Rockets, Knicks game.

Picks Against the Spread WinnerHOUSTON ROCKETS (-10) at NEW YORK KNICKS Total 231
Right now, we have the over by the slimmest of margins. If the number moves to more than 231, we’ll pass. As long as the O/U remains at 231 or lower, then we have a side.
The PLAY: OVER 231

Two teams heading in opposite direction in their last 10. The DOMINATING Bucks are 9-1 and the pastel blue and pink wearing Heat 4-6. Jimmy Butler and crew make it tough for opposing teams to bring their talents to South Beach at 25-4. But… Milwaukee is nearly as tough on the road at 25-5.
The pair are also strong against the number. Miami is a robust 19-9 in the American Airlines Arena and the Fear the Deer squad is 17-12 versus the line away from Brew City.
It’s a close one, but we are going with recent form with our pick.

Luka Doncic might be out with a sprained thumb and is unsure about his status against the Bulls. Our guess, he sits as coach Rick Carlisle probably thinks they can get the best of Chicago sans Luka. He’s probably about 90% right.
Players better head to the window before Luka says he’s in and the line moves to 10.
Chitown is underwater at 13-18 against the spread at the United Center and 12-19 straight up. Meanwhile, the Mav are a stellar 20-8 ATS away from Big D.
With or without the Slovenian Super Star, we are on the same side of the line.

Picks Against the Spread WinnerDALLAS MAVERICKS (-7) at CHICAGO BULLS Total 219.5
The PLAY: UNDER 219.5

We don’t have plays in the other games because our model says Vegas’ line our too close to our projections to affirmatively take a side. DFS and BETS only PLAYS sides with the highest probabilities.
    Our projections lean towards:

    • Cleveland Cavaliers +10 versus Utah Jazz and under 222
    • Portland Trailblazers +6.5 at Orlando Magic and over 220
    • Atlanta Hawks (-2) versus Memphis Grizzlies and over 240.5
    • Over 227.5 in Bucks at Heat
    • San Antonio +2.5 at home versus Indiana Pacers and over 221
